Interesting! While googling for info on whether it is possible to replace the glass lens cover, I came across the following post:
ds-2cd2347g2-lsu/sl glass randomly cracked
Exactly the same model camera as mine and also 4 years old.
Clearly, there is an issue with these cameras! The glass lens cover should NOT be randomly breaking.
