Okay guys I'm an idiot. Yesterday I decided I wanted to remove a camera from the views on the HIK-Connect app. I selected delete and okay'ed it when prompted to remove device.

Yep you go it, it removed the complete device.

Easy I thought I'll re-add it. Now when I look to add it back in, it does show but as a local device only. After a bit of faffing around I realised my that the email account I was logging in with was one I'd shared to myself to make things easier. I needed to access things via the original 'master' account the NVR was registered with.

So the next step was to log into www.Hik-Connect.com and generate a new share and add it. I had recorded various user-names I'd used in the past. I looked to log in with each one. These were either plain text usernames, email addresses or phone numbers.
  • For each of those that allowed me to log in I get 'Operation failed. The device is added by other users'.
  • For some I get 'Incorrect user name or password'
  • If the logon fails and I try to reset the password I get 'Invalid Phone Number'.
I think to move forward I need to find out the logon username that I registered the DVR against on HIK-Connect. Is there any way I can find out what that was?

I can log into the NVR UX via web browser and of course on the main box itself.

HELP!

The rest via email allowed me to reset the password, but I still didn't know what the original 'master' account was.

In the end I resolved the issue by going into the console on the NVR and using the (very scary) unbind option. Then used the bind option to add it to my (logged in on the HIK-Connect App) email account.

Finally re-shared the device to my other half.

All sorted and all is well! Phew... Nervy time! :)
