Door Entry Microphone Issues with DS-KH9310 indoor unit?

Hello, just an update to say ... I got no feeback / news from HikVision.

Not even a confirmation / acknowledgment for the the issue I reported through their form.

It now makes 4 units with this issue. I am not able to say if the issue was already there with the builtin firmware as, just like @gega I upgraded the firmware to the latest upfront as I was experiencing the same exact buzzing noise when touching the screen (press key sound artefact ...) which gave my upfront a feeling on poor quality. The firmware upgrade corrected the buzzing sound (no entirely but better). But not the microphone issue.

@Alexcaid yes with the version V2.1.80 they also stating it as fixing buzzing noises issue in the version, fixes the buzzing noise but not completely. Seems that the previous firmwares were unable to close the audio sink immediately after use thus the buzzing electrostatic noise was coming from the speaker when was not in use. That means when the speaker is in use you can still hear the background the static noise but really silent.

Let's wait for @Kyle for some news from Hik HQ

My reseller set me a RMA ... to return the product and get a refund. He does not want to send me a new one as he does not see any solution to this issue.
If I do so, I would have paid twice for returning and end up with no solution.
So I would do so only if there is no solution ...

One question : would you know of a good alternative to this screen / indoor station from HV which would fit well with the outdoor unit ?

Something under android which would allow to install other apps such as weather / Unifi Protect and the like and which would look nice and even slicker than the DS-KH9310 which I have to say is a little bit thick ?

Thank you

The other one should be the KH9510 that's it's quite bigger screen.

Did your reseller spoke with Hik Vision support or he concluded on his own to RMA the unit ?

Hi all, just a quick update on this...
Hikvision's HQ have said this is not a widely reported issue with the Android units, so we're still trying to get to the bottom of it.
My feeling is that it's a manufacturing fault that is affecting several batches, as we're seeing it on units manufactured in both 2022 and 2023.
UK Support sent me a preliminary firmware release to try, but that hasn't helped.
HQ have asked for a video showing the issue which we'll get sent to them today so they can look into it.
If you have any videos that you're happy to share showing the problem, please share them in this thread or email them to us at info@use-ip.co.uk and we can pass them on to Hikvision at the same time.

I am wondering what I shall do now. Return my unit to cancel the sell, which is what my reseller offers (but I will have paid twice for the return fees for nothing) or wait and hope the problem could be solved via firmware update.
Considering the symptoms, do you / HV think it could be software related and not a hardware issue ?

Just an update : so I finally returned the product to the resaler for refund. @gega I don’t think he discussed the issue with HK, but I provided a like to the thread and it looks like it convinced him …

I also ordered another product from AliExpress : YC-SM08P. It’s a plain Android 11 tablet in a form factor designed for wall mounting in standard boxes. I will install HikConnect on it with the outdoor unit configured as local network device. I will also install other useful apps such as weather widget, day’s event from a calendar, … at the end of the day, as the only HikVison device I have is the outdoor unit, it might serve better my purpose. I have not received it yet but the design looks thinner and more modern than the HV indoor station …

I have a semi-solution for DS-KH9310 indoor unit; The back panel has a micro usb port that means you can connect an external microphone and automatically Android uses this microphone as the main one. I managed to do an experiment using the following:
1. Using the following MicroUSB (M) to USB-A (F). Please note the angle of the MicroUSB
The MicroUSB cable must be capable for OTG else it will not work.

2. Plug a small USB A microphone

The sound was much better and completely different than the unit's microphone.
( Most of these products can be found at your local electronics store (and/or AliExpress) or you can create a custom one by chopping down a MicroUSB OTG cable and a cheap microphone and later do the connections)
I will try to come back with real pictures of the installation when I have time and finalize it.
This solution is pretty dirty considering that the unit has it's own microphone but to be honest most of the cases you need only the image of the communication and less the voice

That would be the best option but unfortunately I dont have a wall box behind the unit. Also the wall it's not a drywall thus making the whole project really hard.

@Kyle sorry for pinging you again but do we have anything new regarding this issue from HikVision ? Many thanks
Update: just saw the new firmware added on 22nd of November V2.2.36 Build 240828 (Fix Low Volume Issue - Bug Fix) Did you try it on your lab setup @Kyle ?

Hello! I tested the new firmware with KH9510 indoor unit. They fixed the sound problem and it works perfectly :)

Hello,

An update on my side. So I returned the indoor station and got refunded.
I ordered a wall mounted Android tablet YC-SM08P (link) which I bought from AliExpress (it exists in black or white, with 2Gb or 4Gb RAM).
I installed HikConnect app on it (the unit is delivered rooted with an « su » on the system so HC complained about rooted device. I just removed the su and switched Root off from developers options and it worked).

It all works perfectly well ! At the end of the day I now have a way thinner / more modern screen on my wall, which is a full Android 11 responsive tablet, which receives the calls from the outdoor unit very quickly and answering from it works perfectly with two ways audio.

I have been able to install all the apps I regularly use to manage the house (digital thermostat, Sonos app, UniFi camera monitoring system m, …) which now gives easy and convenient access from the house hall, which is much appreciated by my wife who did not like having to use the phone for this and that.

My main screen is the family agenda, with all tasks and appointments for the days (useful with 3 kids), and a random family picture from Google Pictures widget.

Also I have setup a time/weather screen saver which gives a nice and useful information all the time (from Here).

It is soooo convenient, without its limitations and way nicer that the HikVision indoor station … and for less money (you can find wall mounted Android tablets under 200€, I paid the YC-SM08P around 180€ VAT included).

I hope this helps.
