Hello,

I have a HIKVision DVR

Model DS-7104HQHI-K1 and it has this (B) after Serial Number, which I don't know what it means.

My curent Firmware is:

And the (B) is missing. :(

Please help me identify the corect and latest firmware for my DVR.

Many thanks!

Have a look at the European portal.
Spreadsheet with dvr models
Looks like Turbo4.0 , K72.
The models with /without B seem to have same firmware.
Turbo40 K72 firmware
v4.20.001 seem to be the last firmware mentioning your model in the notes doc.
Edit: sorry only the older versions have same firmware. From v4 onwards they have separate files for K72 and K72A.

As in the spreadsheet, is it K72 or K72A?
I think that it is K72A witch has totally different firmware.
What (B) version represents? Does it have some extra functions, like (S) versions have?
I don't want to brick my DVR doing this firmware update.

And another thing, if I check for online firmware, from DVR menu, it finds nothing and returns that I already have the latest firmware.

It’s K72A as shown on the table.

The firmware check on the DVR is non functional. It’s the same on all the DVRs and NVRs. It’s about time Hikvision either made it work or remove that button to avoid confusion.

Many thanks!
Do you know what (B) stands for?
Is a new hardware revision? Does it have some new features?

I can't find any info for this (B) :(

Yes it will be a newer hardware revision. There won't necessarily be any additional features but it will likely be more capable. There may be some difference to the number of additional IP cameras you can add or something along those lines. I don't have the original non B spec sheet to compare so can't say, but on the plus side you have the newer version.

I think is the same as it is K72A, instead of K72 which is the non B version.
Is there a compare between K72 vs K72A features?
Thanks again for your support!

Yeah simple K72 works with the older hardware K72A works with the B model!

Don’t overthink it - just install the version for your model.

Done firmware upgrade to 4.20.001 build 190430 with no problem.
Is there a newer firmware version for my DVR?
Thanks!

Latest version is 4.30.101 build 191120.

It's on this page:

Just bookmark that page in your browser and check occasionally for newer versions, the firmware check on your device will never work - ignore it.

Done this update now.
No problems so far.

Thanks!

that was a leap of faith.. but glad you didn't brick your DVR.
the Release Notes stopped mentioning your model after 4.20.001. which is why i mentioned that to be the last firmware for your model...

Hmmmmmm I think you are right :(
As I play around after this upgrade, I find some functions that doesn't work or work very slow.
Can I do a downgrade to 4.20.001?

Yes, you should be able to downgrade.
The same procedure as an upgrade.

perfect.
but the release note for each firmware suggest that that one is only for some DVR types.

see the release note attached for the two firmware that I updated my DVR.

In 4.20 is listed my DVR, but in 4.30 is not.

I don't know what to think about this issue. :(

Hikvision devices will not allow you to update with the incorrect firmware i.e. firmware that is not correct for the device.
If you do try to upgrade with the wrong firmware, you will quickly get an error message prompt to that effect.
