No more digital zoom :(

NVR:
DS-9664NI-I8
Firmware:
V4.21.000 build 190423

We're using Internet Explorer mode in Edge (Version 131.0.2903.70 (Official build) (64-bit)) on Windows 10 version 22H2
Up until recently we were able to digitally zoom using the microscope icon on the live stream and playback stream.
Some machines retained the ability when others didn't. Then the working machines failed.
In Firefox the digital zoom works in live view, but of course there is no playback view available.

Managed to access via a PC (which are on the same IP range). Laptops on WiFi can't connect.
Working through the firmware updates.. at V4.51.005 build 210628 I can no longer login using Internet Explorer mode or view the camera feeds except in the Configuration > Image screen. On the individual cameras.. after logging in I get "live view failed"

Are these additional security constraints that need configuring?

Yes that plugin is installed. Previously even without the plugin we could view just no play back. Now we can't see anything in IE mode. Possibly a conflict with our network security settings and the newer firmware?

Yes that's correct.

I've just tried in FireFox and everything is working.

edit: I can't get into the NVR at all now in Edge.. IE mode off or on.

Thanks - it's a known issue with one of the I-Series firmware versions.
If you clear all of your cookies for the NVR webpage, and reload the page with fresh cache (Ctrl+F5), it should let you log in again in Edge to update to the current firmware, which should hopefully resolve the live view issues too.

Ok I'm on the latest firmware. Working well.

NO DIGITAL ZOOM STILL :D

IE mode no longer works at all but it doesn't need it - we can playback without.
It still nags for the plugin that is installed.

Digital zoom works in Firefox but not Edge or Chrome here.
Currently I'll have to install Firefox against company policy just for those users that need it.

I've just tested with an I-Series NVR running V4.61.030, and a DS-2CD2055FWD-I running V5.6.820, and digital zoom works.

Just to confirm, are you using this button to do it, clicking and dragging to draw a box on the stream to zoom in on?

Try these things if so:
  • Update the camera firmware to the latest version, which is V5.6.820 220519
  • Ensure you are running Edge as an Administrator
  • Install the WebPluginsUserSetup plugin too (install it when your browsers are closed)

Thanks Kyle

Yes, that's how we're zooming.
I just set up the Headmasters laptop with his new login - DIDN'T update the plugin and zoom works??
I then installed Firefox anyway, again no plugin, and zoom worked there too.
Meanwhile on my laptop - no zoom with the latest plugin :(
Just a working observation but interesting.

Moot points I think as this is working for the Headteacher currently...
I haven't updated the camera firmware yet.
No one on the network is allowed to run Edge as administrator - local government rule (Code of Connection (CoCo)).

Ah, OK, that's interesting...
Good to heat that it's working for the Headteacher at least.
I wonder if you uninstall LocalServiceComponents from your installed apps, and then install it again by clicking the jigsaw piece in the top-right corner when logged in to the NVR, it helps?
It may well be a different / newer version of the plugin.

I lost live views and access to the other tabs altogether until I uninstalled LocalServiceComponents. I re-installed it from the download button and everything else works except zoom.
The other staff I'm leaving on whatever version of the plugin they're on so that zoom works for them.

Maybe I should start another thread...

The Headteacher wants to view footage from before the meltdown. Problem is - the camera names don't correspond with the cameras that the NVR imported this time.
Is there anything we can do to fix that?

Hi @Mark Simpson

If you login to the NVR and go to Configuration > Image > OSD Settings you should have the option to change the 'Camera Name', see below:

But this will probably only change the name displayed in the device list, on the live streams, and on recorded footage from the point you save the changes.

I don't believe it will change the camera names in already recorded footage.

Thanks Dan

Yeah.. the current camera names are correct.. it's just when you go back before the rebuild that none of the names tally.

I've just been through them all on old footage and made a note of the real camera names for staff that need to view that footage.

The camera names on the footage is correct - just the list in the web interface is different. It's completely re-ordered, seemingly randomly. The cameras are in a completely different order and the names in the list still what they used to be.

On the latest firmwares the fast forward buttons disappear. The solution is of course to install the plugin - which of course DIABLES ZOOM! :D
