Hello,

Can someone explain me the meaning of the letters at the end of the models? I am looking for a 8ch NVR, but I`m getting confused by the number of similarly looking models
For example:

DS-7608NXI-K2
DS-7608NI-Q1/8P(C)
DS-7608NXI-I2/8P/S(C)
DS-7608NXI-K1/8P
DS-7608NXI-K1
DS-7608NXI-I2/S(C)
DS-7608NXI-K2/8P
DS-7708NXI-K4
DS-7708NXI-K4/8P
DS-7608NI-K1/8P(C)
DS-7608NI-Q1(C)

So far I managed to decode - POE ports("P"), NVR series("7600", "7700"), the letter series("Q", "K" and so on)

Thanks!

You'd be best downloading the data sheets for the models or using the compare tool on Hikvision's website, as unlike the cameras, the NVR model lettering doesn't tell you everything. That being said, a few pointers:

- NI or NXI - The NXI models have AcuSense processing in the recorder. It's not as flexible as it is on the cameras, but allows you to use AcuSense on older camera that don't have it. If you'll be using all AcuSense cameras, you won't need it; however it's now standard on some ranges and unavailable without it

- /xP - PoE model - x denotes the number of PoE ports

- The number after the K, I, or Q (1,2 or 4) is the number of SATA interfaces/how many disks you can install inside the unit

- The 7708 is a higher range than the 7608

- (C) - is just hardware revision. The hardware (and firmware) has changed but the model number remains the same.

- K, I, Q - the model series. The I series would be the best of those. The Q series is newer than the K, but I can't comment on performance etc as it's not available in our market (UK)

Thank you!
Reading topics from the forum and datasheets from Hikvision, I'm slowly getting into the subject of video surveillance :)

Thank you. What would the 's" mean in DS-7732NXI-I4/16P/S?
I have worked out the 77 is the later model, 32 is number of cameras it can take, NXI os the acusense body recognition and IP cams, I4 is 4 SATA drives, 16P is 16 x POE slots, but S remains a mystery.

I have worked out the 77 is the later model
It's not necessarily a later model but the 77 have a higher specification over the 76 models. All 77 (I, K, M, Q) models seem use the deeper chassis with 4 SATA ports.
but S remains a mystery
I'm not sure. S in the camera models often refers to alarm inputs. I don't pay too much attention to the model codes and will always look at the specs in the data sheets for differences between models.

The '/S' stands for "Intelligent Perimeter Prote", according to Hikvision's latest Product Quick Guide.

I have attached the page which shows you what each part of the NVRs product code means so you can have a look at it.

It's not massively clear what it means but our understanding is that the '/S' has to do with the NVR having AcuSense built in and is just Hikvision doubling up on it being shown in the product code.

Hikvision also does this with the number of hard drives you can have in the NVR with the difference between the '76' and '77' being that the 76 can hold 2 hard drives and the 77 can hold 4.
