ddns problem

Have been using a ddns/no-ip link to view our cctv for about two years, after a reson reset the mobil phones still sign in and see the cameras screens but time out before showing a video. How is this remidied?
 
If you’re remotely connecting to the service DDNS should be ok. Are all the necessary ports open?

Port 443 is for https secure web access, if you don't use https you don't need it.

what did you reset to cause this problem?

my port forwarding wan side uses a different port number to the LAN side. <wanpublic_ip>:port123456 forwards to <lanip>: port80

 
I have checked more settings on the DVR menu and it does not list port 433, but I have added it to my firewall rules.
Only NO-IP port checker finds 443 blocked, is that my problem?

As port 80 is set for the DVR's ddns and port 80 is shown as a https port, do you think we need 443?
Have tried resetting the hub, setting a 5th rulling to over lap 443 whitch the hub rejects as already in use by my hikvision device, still will not clear the port checker.

on the dvr...
assign Port 443 to https and if not used disable it.
Port 80 is for http which ddns will use anyway
 
I agree, but it does not help me find out why the phones are not showing the videos?
It could be part of the problem. If the smartphone app is using HTTP on port 80 and the DVR HTTPS port 80 the two protocols will not talk to each other.

I would start testing this connected to the same LAN as the DVR, when that is working move onto the remote side. At the moment you have to many variables, establish a simple fault finding baseline.
 
The LAN connections are all working fine, the only problem i have got is the ddns connections which have been working for years until the DVR reset.

What smartphone app are you using?

temporarily enable router wan side ping / icmp. at the dos command prompt remotely ping the wan public ip.

using internet explorer try to remotely access the DVR using the router wan public IP address. example http://123.456.789.100

Is your DDNS service using the correct wan public IP address?

enable upnp on the DVR and router. if this works you can make a note of the wan and lan ports used then disable upnp and add those ports manually.

do you need to add your ddns service to the DVR?

some of the above would have created router / dvr log entries, check these logs for error messages.
 
The 3 phones all use the Windows version of iVMS-4500 and have it set as below.

We have two computers using a wired LAN connection, still getting live view. And my scrcreeen has a direct wired link to the DVR.
could you delete the 2 attached images?

when I ping your ddns url it does not resolve to an IP address, my ddns does. Log into your ddns account and check the service.

on your phone replace the ddns url with the public IP address of the router the dvr is connected to.

Are you always local to your DVR?
 
The service address in the DVR is "dynupdeate.NO-IP.com"

Not sure about the phones settings, do you mean "outwood.ddns.net" if so what do I change it to?

Only two of the phones are local to the DVR most of the time.

on the phone delete "outward.ddns.net" and add the WAN public IP address (I think it ends 8.144) of the router on your DVR network. then see if the phone has remote access. This is to bypass the ddns service and connect direct to your router.
 
Hi David, just taken a step forward and got succes, then without me doing anything it reverted back to timing out.

Checking your earlier mail about editing port number s on No-Ip site, when you suggested changing to hostname type A. Got my head round that today, and did it Tried my phoneand saw the videos. Told others to try and they could not see them so back to my phone whicch was now also timing out.

This may give a lead on the problem. Ron

Hi Ron, strange that it only worked briefly. On the phone app did you enter the public IP direct?

See what public IP address is assigned to your router and then compare with your NoIP account.

Until this is fixed use the current public IP address (on your phones) instead of the DDNS service, as you use DDNS your public IP is dynamic and may change. I think there are 2 or 3 problems its just a matter of finding them.

if you have a pc / desktop on the same network as the dvr install the noIP ddns updater app Update Clients
 
spent another day trying things and getting nowhere, the phone I am useing has my freinds Swan on it and that lets me see his cameras. Did wander about deleating iVMS-4500, then reinstallit next day with a fresh setup?

@old codger Your network setup looks ok now, can you delete all the attachments in this thread? As a precaution you should change the outwood url to something else. FYI @Phil
