Firmware M Series 5.04.020_241106 Released - Issues/Avoid

Wanted to give it a try, but it won't load on mine at all, just getting "Upgrade stopped. Please check the network connection and try again." Have tried to reboot and tried the upgrade again, but same message.

Edit: Remembering back when I had an issue with an I-series that wouldn't upgrade via the web interface, I finally got that one upgraded using the seperate Hikvision Batch update Tool. With that in mind I just tried to use the Hik-Partner Pro tool to do the upgrade and it worked. Will report back on what's broken for me with this version. It's incredible that they would just push this update out if it really is as broken for everyone as it is on JB1970's box.

So far, I can confirm Human/Vehicle markers no longer show up for any recording post the update. Line Crossing detection "event" markers are still showing on recordings post update. I didn't fix an issue I'm having with connecting to the NVR using an ONVIF client, so was a waste of time for me sadly.

I've reported everything to Hikvision support but won't hold my breath for a response or fix...

I've downgraded to the previous version and now have to setup from scratch - joy :-(

Event markers are working again for new footage since downgrade on both local UI and Hik-Connect.

So I've factory reset mine now. Not to downgrade, but to see if it fixes the janky ONVIF for me. It doesn't sadly. Still only lets me log in once via ONVIF and then rejects the user/password until the NVR is restarted.
Anyway, since I'd factory defaulted, I had to set up everything again, and one thing that took forever to find was the setting for Virtual Server. So, for anyone else looking, in V5 that's now under Device Access > Video Device > ...More. Here's the thing though, as well as the traditional Virtual Server, where you can then access the connected IP Cams on port 65001, 65002, 65003, etc., You can also and independently enable Device Remote Configuration. Unlike the virtual server, whereby you can then directly log in to the cameras via the alternative port, this method, proxies the camera web interface via the NVR interface on port 80 (or whatever you're using) using a pop-up web window. This is actually quite useful in a way, because in the past if you wanted to be able to properly REMOTELY configure the cameras (you know, all those settings that you can't do via the NVR, like exposure and WDR settings!), then you had to either go in via a VPN, or port forward all those 65xxx ports on the router. Using "Device Remote Configuration", you no longer need to do that. Just forward the one web interface port for the NVR. I'm hoping this also means you can get to the camera settings via Hik-Connect without having to be "on-site" or via VPN.
Has this always been a thing on V5 firmware, or is it new to this release?
The other thought I had... this not being able to see human/vehicle markers in the app - since you CAN see them, as JB1970 pointed out, perfectly in Safari on macOS (and Chrome that I tested - although live view doesn't seem to work on Chrome, and maybe other browsers too?), I wonder if it's just an update to the Hik-Connect App that will fix this, because maybe the format of these markers has just changed (since they clearly ARE there, as safari/chrome can display them. So being super optimistic, maybe this new marker format is also something that can load a lot quicker in the app??? Being realist though, there's a few seconds of "Searching" that occurs in Safari, so probably not.

Thanks for the heads up. I searched everywhere - didn't find it...but when I attempted to log into camera 1 using 65001 it worked normally so I assumed it was still on in the background

Since downgrade the local UI and Hik-Connect motion detection markers are back but only in footage recorded before 5.0.4.020 was installed and after it was downgraded. Since downgrade I'm back to having frozen live view and no playback in Safari. My use of my own NVR is all either using the local UI or Hik-Connect, so while the fix for Safari was welcome, downgrading was the better option.

One other thing that's now cropped up. Previously I had no issues adding my KV6113 Intercom to the NVR. However since upgrade and downgrade I've got the same issues as everyone else being unable to add it.

Weird, mine was definitely disabled until I turned it on there. I wonder if your box really did a full factory default. Unless it's on by default on the previous firmware but not on the latest, but that's unlikely right?

Any chance you could see if ONVIF works on your NVR??? It's under System Configuration > Network Configuration > Platform Access > ONVIF. You have to enable it AND create a user. Can be tested with ‎IP Camera Viewer - IPCams

It didn't reset everything:
  • Password was reset and NVR was deactivated
  • Static IP address remained but http, RTSP and server ports had reverted to default
  • All settings - video output, display etc defaulted
  • All channels reverted to plug and play with H265
  • Disks were intact and did not need initialising

Just tried (created an account of 'admin' type) it and it's working fine on mine with that app. Initially the ONVIF search found no devices and when I went back to the setting the switch had turned itself off despite being saved. I turned it back on, saved again and on that occasion it prompted a restart. After restart the search found the NVR immediately and allowed adding with the credentials I'd set.

It always allows me to add directly after an NVR restart, but then when I try to actually view the streams, it fails to authenticate after switching between streams and then won’t work at all until after another reboot.
If it’s working fully for you (you can view the streams without issue), which firmware version did you downgrade to?

Could these all be disk formatting related?
As you said ...downgrade will wipe the NVR settings and return the HDDs to uninitialised status.
Is this disk initialization normal? Why this cannot be fixed with a simple Repair Rebuild same as before?

I forgot to mention that - the downgrade did not initialise disks as it said it would. All working fine.

Viewing the streams is fine. It was a little confusing for me as I don't use ONVIF and haven't used that app before. It loads as a single channel (the NVR) displaying the last camera (camera 9). When clicking the three dot menu I just see a badly ordered list of 18 streams (9 main/9 sub) that are ordered by resolution rather than NVR channel. I can select any one though and stream it.

Edit: I forgot to answer your other question. I just downgraded to the previous version - 5.03.010_240606

Looking for a solution for my problem with GUI 5.0 G5s(v5.7.17 and v5.7.18) firmwares and my NXI-K NVR, I found this topic which unfortunately did not help me solve my issue. It might help you if you want and can go on testing.
I completely uninstalled iVMS4200 and every related plugin but this did not help.

Unfortunately this firmware is just broken and no setting change will resolve it. This version fixes all Safari live view and playback issues but breaks AcuSense motion detection markers in both local UI and Hik-Connect. The downgrade resolved it immediately.

This is what I experience since June with firmwares v5.7.17 and v5.7.18. Downgrading to v5.7.15 fixes everything. I don't know what's wrong with the new authors. I have contacted them twice in Europe Support with every detail about my devices and they ignore me

Yeah this issue is NVR firmware related, the camera model makes no difference it is system wide.

Hik-Connect 6.7.0 just released. Nothing about the human/vehicle markers in the release notes, but I'm sure they didn't provide everything. Please let us know if it fixes the issue.

Hi everyone. This is my first post. I bought the DS-7616NI-M2 nvr a few days ago. At the time of installation it had a firmware v4.xx I don't remember the particular build. I updated the other day to the latest version currently available but the most serious problem I encountered with all my cameras is the lack of functionality of the advanced perimeter protection events. The interface tells me "function not supported". This is impossible because the same cameras worked perfectly with the two previous NVRs. Now I downgraded to version v4.xx but I have not solved the problem. So I ask, waiting for better versions, which is the most stable version 5.xx at the moment? Excuse the language, I write from Italy and I have to use a translator.

For some cameras, you need to go to the web page of it and enable the VCA function for it first.

Edit: Depending on what camera and FW it has, you may also need to reboot the camera.
